The World of Pain consists of four known continents:
- Kalpusha      -- a mostly forested land with some ancient towns
- Ithilien      -- also covered in forests, featuring some diverse creatures
- Malus         -- a varied landscape with forests, fields and deserts
- Numquom       -- an unknown land best suited for high level explorers

Oceans isolate the continents and will require a boat or the ability to fly
to cross them.

Certain races start out in life in specific hometowns. Currently
known hometowns and their race and continent include:
- B'zal Gora (Troglodyles)                  -- Island in the ocean

- Gardenia (Gnomes)                         -- Kalpusha
- Gruak T'k (Goblins)                       -- Ithilien

- Salanaria (Fairies)                       -- Ithilien
- Shadow Grove (Wraithen)                   -- Kalpusha
- Woodhaven (Humans, all other races)       -- Kalpusha
