Gnomes are small and weak, but incredibly intelligent. Their minds are filled 
with the lore and history of the realm, and are often hired to perform the 
more mentally advanced tasks that need to be performed. They often reside 
away from the "big folk," however, and therefore often need to be sought out 
when needed. They are of little use in melee, but are very powerful wielders 
of magic.
