Making Objects for Your Zone
Oedit is the editor you use to build objects for your zone. This
is the section from object 3598 (the builders guide) on oedit:
Most immortals like this editor the best, because you can make your own
personal eq with it. Type OEDIT <obj vnum> to start the editor. You can
make LOTS of objects with this command. Food, drinks, fountains, armor,
paper, pen, etc. Almost any object! You can also set stats to the object.
For example: +2 STR in the affects field. Type OEDIT SAVE <zone> to save.
Your zone should have at least 75 objects in it. All objects
must abide by Slayer's new OBJ Cregu (object creation guildlines), vnum
6896; you will be held accountable for objects in your zone which fail to
abide by these rules.
As a rule, besides shops, equipment should load infrequently more
often then not. EQ which is well liked (define well liked EQ as any EQ
which more then 5 people on the mud wear everyday as part of there outfit)
should be set to load less then 50% of the time.
Here are some ideas for objects to make.
-Make litter, refuse, rubbish, coins (loading very infrequently), crates,
and broken wheels which lay around your zone.
-Think of EQ to give to mobs that exist merely for role-play purposes ie.
give a janitor a mop to wield.
-Don't forget about useful eq, there are 26 body parts (wear positions)
which people can put eq on.
-Make scrolls, wands, staffs, and potions which can cast scores of
different spells in different combinations.
-DON'T forget to make books which help mortals learn their skills more
easily.
-Signs, they don't have to be good signs; in fact, you could make two
signs, one which points the wrong direction and one which points the
right direction, have them load in the same room (only one at a time of
course, half the time load the correct sign and half the time load the
false sign).
